How to save a public Threads video or photo
The controls vary slightly by browser, but the safe workflow is the same: start from one public post and save only the files you are allowed to use.
From Threads to PostTote

Open one public post
Choose the post itself, not a profile, feed, search page, quoted suggestion, or reply recommendation.

Copy its link
Use the Share menu in the Threads app or copy the full threads.com or threads.net address from your browser.

Check the media
Paste the link on the PostTote home page. Confirm the type, position, and known file details before saving.
Saving on phones and computers
On Android, the browser normally puts a saved file in Downloads. On iPhone and iPad, Safari may put it in the Files app; open the completed file and use Share if you want a compatible video or image in Photos.
On Windows, macOS, and Linux, use the browser download list to locate the file. A button click or HTTP response does not prove that a device kept the file, so always open the completed download before relying on it.
When a save does not work
Expired
Return to the original post link and choose Check post again. Do not keep retrying an old media URL.
Interrupted
Check the network, then retry once. PostTote reports a broken transfer instead of calling a partial file complete.
In-app browser
If an app cannot save files, copy the page link and open it in Safari or Chrome, then repeat the save.

Downloading does not grant permission to repost, edit, distribute, or monetize someone else's media. Get the rights you need first.
